In modern agricultural production, the quality of fertilizers directly affects crop yield and quality. Fertilizer caking is a major problem that plagues fertilizer manufacturers and farmers. It not only affects the convenience of use, but may also lead to uneven fertilization. Liquid coating and powdering technology, as the most effective anti-caking solution at present, is constantly innovating with the advancement of automation technology.
Fertilizer coating technology is divided into liquid coating and powder coating technology. It forms a protective film on the surface of fertilizer particles through physical or chemical methods, effectively solving the problem of easy agglomeration of fertilizers during storage and transportation.
Liquid coating technology
Liquid coating technology mainly uses spraying to evenly cover the coating agent on the surface of fertilizer particles to form a dense protective film. The coating agent used in this technology is usually composed of mineral oil, surfactant and polymer materials, which can effectively block the contact between fertilizer particles and moisture in the air and prevent agglomeration caused by the dissolution-recrystallization process8. Compared with traditional methods, liquid coating has the characteristics of uniform film formation, precise dosage and wide adaptability, and is particularly suitable for fertilizer storage in high humidity environments.
Powdering technology
Powdering technology uses special inert powder materials (such as diatomaceous earth, talcum powder, etc.) to mechanically wrap the surface of fertilizer particles to form a physical isolation layer36. This technology is simple to operate and low in cost, and is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized fertilizer production companies. Modern powdering machines significantly reduce the wear and slip problems common in traditional equipment by optimizing the drive device and friction materials, and the service life can be extended by more than 30%.
Fertilizer coating machine process flow
1. Feeding and pretreatment
The fertilizer particles to be coated are fed into the feeding port of the coating machine through a conveyor belt or an elevator.
It can be equipped with a vibrating screen or a grading device to remove particles that are too fine or too large to ensure uniform coating.
2. Coating treatment
The coating methods are mainly divided into liquid coating and powder dusting. Customized equipment can perform both treatments at the same time.
3. Mixing and rolling
The barrel of the coating machine rotates at a certain angle (usually 5°-20°) to make the fertilizer particles roll inside continuously to ensure uniform coating or powder coverage.
4. Drying and cooling
The drying and cooling process can accelerate the solidification of the liquid coating agent and separate qualified products from substandard particles through a screening device.
5. Discharging and packaging
The coated fertilizer particles are discharged from the discharge port and enter the finished product silo or directly transported to the packaging line. With a screening machine, the particles are graded according to size and packaged separately.
The fertilizer coating automatic production line is a highly integrated system engineering, which organically combines the liquid coating machine/powdering machine, automatic control system and auxiliary equipment to form a continuous and efficient anti-caking treatment solution. This integrated design not only greatly improves production efficiency, but also significantly improves the coating quality and stability by optimizing process connection and equipment coordination, becoming the key direction of upgrading and transformation of modern fertilizer enterprises.
